Is there a tool that will give you a list of all the proper names in a document?

If not, I'll get my son to write one. If there is, I won't waste his time.

What I'm looking for is something that will take a document and read each word, determine if it is a proper name, and if so put it in a list. If it comes across the word again it will add one to the number for that name.
