Does anyone have any idea (approximately) how many banking transactions are carried out in the US/day or how I'd find out. Google is no help.

I don't need to know amounts or anything like that, just the number of times a bank records a transaction.

Or should I just make-up a really big number?

You mean EVERY kind of transaction? Every check written, every electronic transfer?

It might be easier to find out how many of specific kinds of transactions happen, such as credit card purchases and checks written, and add them up.

ETA: Check out governmental banking and regulatory sites, they may have something.
