Do you suppose that any of the millions of people who go to buy Dan Brown's new book will happen to notice my book sitting next to it and decide to buy it too? (I suppose I have to fight off the Brontes.) Anyone else have someone popular next to them on the bookshelves?

If I published something childreny, I'd be near Holly Black. That could be nifty.

For adult science fiction/fantasy... I'm not sure. I don't know of any famous bl names. But I wouldn't be too far away from the brs (Ray Bradbury).

Yeah, I'd rather read the Breen than the Brown, too.

I'm going to use the pen name Gailan, so I get put next to Neil Gaiman. Maybe "Nelly Gailan," so the short-sighted grab my book by mistake. ;)

Thanks for the kind words!
What a nice thing to read on a gloomy New York Tuesday.

If I published Adult fiction, I'd be close to Stephen King...!

I'm working on YA right now, though, so if that gets published I don't know.

AW. A very nice place!
... always felt that classics should be in a different section than contemporary novels. So if bookstores ever undertake to do this the Brontes will be out of the picture and you'll only be going up against Brown, Breen ;-)

That reminds me of how I walked into a B&N a few months ago and saw a stack of my books lying on the floor. I thought they'd opened up a new section for books they hated, but it turned out they were just shifting some things around.
