A nice little coastal mag just sent me a nice little rejection note saying that we loved your idea, but because a staff writer already brought up the area he'll get it. Blah blah blah.

Oh well, off to find someone who wants me (well the piece that is).

And it really was a nice rejection note.

Yeah, the staff writers usually get priority over the idea department. I've had that happen, too. A lot of writers have.
Good luck in getting it accepted elsewhere!
