Because it was raining, I had Ray's book in a plastic bag so I could read it at work. I stopped for groceries and when I was getting them out of the trunk, I heard a plop beside me. I looked down, and to my horror I saw the book in a three inch deep puddle!

I snatched it and ran into the house, shouting for someone else to get the groceries while I tried to rescue the book. The cover was already curling. Waaaaaaahhhhhhh!

I have paper towels between the pages and I set it on a heating vent with a heavy book on top. Thankfully, Ray's signature didn't smudge.

Wish me luck!

I just rec'd Claudia Gray's Evernight as a bday gift. I grabbed it to take to the doctor's office when I took hubby on monday, spilled coffee on it while getting in the car and got a pencil mark on it when I shoved it my purse while moving around the doctor's office. Don't even remember putting a pencil in my purse. Sigh.

I'm sure Ray wouldn't mind if you bought another one.;)

Sass- whose copy of Ray's book is also signed.

You can now claim that you wept through the whole book....

Or it's so bad that you peed on it...

Seriously, if you need a new copy, I'd be more than happy to send you one. But no nude picture this time. I ran out.

How come everybody's copy of Ray's book is signed and not mine? Ray, you better get on out here to do a signing so that I can get in line for your sig!

Sorry to hear about the book, Chumplet. I have been there. Unfortunately, the books I had that got wet were never restored very well. :( I'm glad the damage is not permanent. Good on ya for acting so quickly!

I suppose this is what happens when there is something referring to WATER in the title.

AW. A very nice place!
... the book didn't fall in no puddle, I'm bettin'.
It got wet from your tears, Chumplet,
whilst you read through the sad passages.
You just didn't want to admit that to anyone.
Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me ;-)

Title of this thread misleading.

I had visions of a book being carted away by an ambulance while hungry lawyers handed out business cards.
Grisham was taking notes while King rubbed his hands with glee, and muttered, 'Redrum, redrum...'

Gah!

And, bloody 'ell, how do I get a signed copy???....uh...a DRY copy, not the puddle betwixt the legs copy....

Mine's not signed either. Maybe a book plate, Ray? (hint, hint...)

Well, I'm REALLY screwed, since I'm in Turkey, and somehow *plasters face against monitor* I don't see Ray-Ray makin' a trip this close to Iraq ta' sign a bunch o' books!

*stomps back over to Cabaret & secret stash of Jamaican Rum...*
