Another dodgy self-publishing site rears its head. I note they don't say what they charge for their package of wonderfulness. Anybody have them on the radar yet?

Yes, it appears that they haven't decided what to charge yet. Still at the hand-rubbing stage, I guess.

From their "Note to Readers" page:

Unlike “Self-Publishing” or “Traditional Publishing”, The Next Great Authors Guild will publish all serious authors, giving them the positive environment to express their ideas and grow as a professional writer. You, the reader, are the most important part of this equation and through your love of reading will have an important role in an author’s career.

Huh?

There's enough red flags on this page (http://www.thenextgreatauthors.com/faq.html) to enrage several generations of angry bulls.

And ... uh oh ... there's a "Pay for Publication" link on this page:

The "traditional publisher" phrase is an automatic red flag, having been coined by Publish America. I was also looking for a "who we are" button-- and found none.

Wow. That's... wow.

1. Typos on a writing site (from the actual facts page, not posts) are never a good sign.

2. I wonder if they're aware putting something in "quotes" is the same as saying it's not what you mean. For all those "new writers" out there this "grass roots" effort seems like an effort in futility.

At least the founder has dropped the pretense he isn't self-publishing ... TNGAGPH is now Steve Jaffe Books: http://stevejaffebooks.com/index.php

Here's (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=site:www.thenextgreatauthors.com&start=0&sa=N) the cache of the old site, for wincing purposes.
