I do believe there is a God!
I do believe God is Unity!
I do believe Unity is Love!
I do believe Love is Life!
I do believe Life is Eternity!
I do believe Eternity is God!

I Believe

I do believe there is a God!
I do believe God is Unity!
I do believe Unity is Love!
I do believe Love is Life!
I do believe Life is Eternal!
I do believe God is Eternal!

(Not as poetic, maybe, but it's what I believe :) ).

It wasn't meant to be poetic. I wanted to expound my belief.

Also, if I may ask, what is the diff between our two ver's? :) I don't see any, really.

I'm sorry...I think I misunderstood...I didn't mean to sound like I was making light of your poem (or contestng it, even). I thought you were starting a new thread called "I Believe" and I was just writing down, taking off on your thoughts, what I believe. (And I do think yours has a better 'rhythm' than mine, even if you didn't intend for it to be poetic.)

The difference, I guess, is mainly in the last two lines. (And since I'm not sure what you meant entirely by yours, it may just be a difference in the way we would state it.) I wrote Life is Eternal, only because I see Life and Eternity as two slightly different things noun-wise, and would be more apt to see the second as an adjective that describes the first.

In the last line, I wrote God is Eternal, again, because I don't see God and Eternity (a noun for time) as exactly identical, tho I see eternity as a characteristic of His existence. In other words, I see God as a Person, and eternal as a concept describing Him.

I'm fascinated with concepts like this and with trying to put them into words, so please forgive if I got too much into semantics...

Not at all, that's okay. I do think, really, that "eternal" says it better, but I wanted the idea behind it, as you aptly mention and discern between "ideas" and "persons".

Again, I just expounded my belief http://absolutewrite.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

Amen to BOTH of those!

There are things I believe, and then there are things I know.

I am careful and questing on things I believe, because at one time folks believed the earth was flat, but that did not make it so. The strength, depth, power of a belief does not make it true, it may be true, but a person's belief is now what makes it true.

I know God loves you, and me.
I know God has a plan for your life, and for mine.
I know the Blood of Christ restores me to a relationship with my heavenly Father.

Agree perfectly. That's why it's called belief and not proof http://absolutewrite.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif

Doyle, nicely put. No matter what we believe or think, Truth is still Truth.

Another title for this thread could have been "Creed."

There are some Creed songs that I like. :)

And the lyrics to my favorite have just gone out of my head. All I can remember is the chorus.

Verse 1
I believe in God the Father
I believe in Christ His son
I believe He came into this world
Through Jesus Christ the chosen one
We believe You died and rose again
We believe You reign on high
We believe you're coming back again
We'll see glory in Your eyes

Hallelujah, Jesus is Lord
Hallelujah, we believe
We've come to rejoice
Jesus is Lord of all
Hallelujah, we believe
We believe

I forgot the second verse. Which is weird because this is a song I know extremely well. But the moment I try to recall it to type, it leaves my brain.
