Protocol Regarding Assistants to Agents

If you receive a request for partials from an assistant to an agent, do you address the response to the assistant? I usually do, but I wanted to confirm that this was the proper thing to do.

Hmm...interesting question. But I think the agent will be the one reading your partial, not the assistant. I'd still address it to the agent. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. :)

Personally I'd address it to the assistant if they were the one to request it- it might be that the assistant is the one who will read the partial and full before recommending the agent read it. Wouldn't risk getting the assistant's back up by addressing it to the agent instead, suggesting to the assistant that he/she's not 'important' enough... this could be the person championing your work to the agent! Just my two cents...

Read the e-mail carefully. If they are requesting "for" an agent, then make sure you address the response to the agent, not the assistant.
