He's one of those character actors you might not notice, but often leaves a subtle impression.

Actor Ron Silver, who won a Tony Award as a take-no-prisoners Hollywood producer in David Mamet's "Speed-the-Plow" and did a political about-face from loyal Democrat to Republican activist after the Sept. 11 attacks, died Sunday at the age of 62.

Too young. While I may not agree with his politics of late, he seemed like a great guy and I enjoyed his work.

Ron Silver was 62???? Damn.

As for me, I have a hell of a lot of respect for a man who stood up to the establishment in his industry--and who was talented as hell to boot. He will be missed.

My favorite Ron Silver character was the one he played in Timecop: a U.S. Senator intent on being President. I love that movie. I don't care that Van Damme was the star.
