Can anyone help? I didn't take Latin at school and I'd like to use the Latin word for 'vanish' as a command. On the internet I've found 'alieno' but I'd like confirmation (or correction).

Many thanks. I'm back in hospital tomorrow for ten days - follow up TMS for depression. So I'm using the internet like mad to get all the odd jobs done before I go in.

Perhaps there is a Latino on these boards who can translate for you.

Or you could actually look at the page I linked to, and read:
vanish abeo, abolesco
Some folks can't see the forrest because of all those trees.

Yes, your link may be sufficient for Mumut's purpose. On the other hand, mine includes some additional information.

I clicked on your link in the first place because I was curious. When I look at an online translation, I always reverse it to see whether the concepts map one-to-one. Those results provoked additional curiosity about the etymology of certain English words. Poking around that question led me to the other site, and I thought there was a chance it might be useful.

are people really that concerned about perfect translations? Cause I use Japanese, Hungarian, Italian, Latin, Old Norse, Sanskrit, African, and Russian to name various things... names gotten through random internet translation sites

Sorry Fennel. I assumed you meant my link wasn't sufficient and we all know what happens when we assume. My apologies.

Leave him alone. That post was edited after the fact by a PA typesetter. Everyone knows their spellchecker thinks that's how it's spelled.

Oh, I wasn't intending to pick on RJK. Just showing how weird my mind works sometimes. :)

Sorry Williebee and all those others offended by simple typos. My arthritic fingers and laziness have come to rely on MS word's auto-correct. Please be assured, I know how to spell farest, I mean forast, er, formast, ah wooded area.
