I thought I'd keep a record of my roll up the rim stats, it began on February 23rd...my progess so far...

Please Play again - 6

Donuts - 1

Coffees - 1

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but I hate this game. Great way to encourage waste Tim Horton's, forcing people to buy disposable cups rather than use a Timmie's china cup or one of their own travel mugs. There's not enough garbage in the world, they have to create more. I boycott roll up the rim (not Timmie's, though; that would be crazy).

And then you'll have to roll up your rolls.

Boycot donuts and make your own coffee!

What the hell?

It's a Canadian thing (http://www.rolluptherimtowin.com/en/index.php)...

A madness, really, that takes the country by storm every year. Like the lottery, only better because you could win a car or a laptop or money or best of all, a free coffee!

I know you probably just really enjoy saying "poutine" but Tim Horton's does not, in fact, sell the stuff.

Poutine is the best... I usually make my own :) And how is anyone forced to buy the disposable cups? During the contest you don't have to participate, you can still use your travel mug if you feel that strongly about it?

Oh and thus far 2 donuts. Though I would rather win the other stuff or a coffee :)

KTC
03-05-2009, 01:55 AM
Sometimes they hand you the empty cup, though. Actually, it's almost an automatic thing. But, still...you can refuse to take it. I think the environmental issue is neither here nor there. With or without the roll up game, I go through the same amount of cups. I know it's environmentally wrong, but I tried the travel mug thing. It usually ends up rotting in the backseat.

OH...and I'm making poutine right now...to go with our Scottish meatpies. Ben...you can't have none. I'm only thinking of your weight, dearheart.

LadyVonFright

Ive now won my 7th Please Play Again!!! I can't believe my own luck!!! :D can't wait to cash in these babies!!!

If I had a backseat it would rot in mine too ;)

all this talk about poutine is making me want some, but to buy it from a fast food place such as burger king, or kfc...bleh...too yucky

The best place to get poutine is at a ski hill.

If waste is an issue, can't you just put the paper cup in the recycling can with the other paper/cardboard?

BenPanced
03-06-2009, 10:17 AM
Or take your coffee money somewhere else?

KTC
03-06-2009, 02:15 PM
Or hold your mouth open and have them dispense the coffee inside?

CaroGirl

You could try rolling up the rim while the cup is still full. It's messy and can be painful but it ends the suspense.

Kevin, have you tried going to a different Horton's for your coffee? Maybe your one's cursed.

yes i could do this but then it kills the suspense :)

and no I think he should keep at his regular one...because but going there so many times already he has developed a sort of kinship with the rolling up of the rim gods...

YES! 8 times so far :D

KTC
03-06-2009, 07:31 PM
I should be so lucky! I get at least 2 a day...and usually 1 every time I take my son to hockey, which is another 3 times a week. And then some.

LadyVonFright
03-06-2009, 07:36 PM
you know, you *could* buy your son a coffee/tea, and double you're chances of winning, AND also giving him energy to play his hockey...

do you remember the time when you asked for a double cup and they would give you 2 ROLL UP cups??? ahhh those were the days...

LadyVonFright
03-09-2009, 08:04 PM

And a Buffalo thing.

Hate hate hate the coffee. Tastes like a foot. But then again, I love grits and people think I'm odd for that. (curse of being southern and living here)

BUT I do love their ice capp. Odd, huh? And their breakfast sammiches ain't half bad.

Oh. Never won a thing, either.

I use to give the donut ones to a nurse who had a grandchild. She would use them as treats for him and he thought it was super to go to Tims and 'buy' his own donut. He is 5:D

I don't normally buy Timmies unless someone offers. The stuff is so raunchy I'd have to order a triple-triple just to choke it down. In the past, I've won a couple of coffees and some donuts, but this year I hear complaints that the prizes are few and far between -- much less than previous years.

It hasn't been good in Newfoundland this year. Not many have won any of the big prizes just a couple of laptops.

Try a half coffee, half hot chocolate. Not as raunchy as the coffee and a lot less sweet than the mochachino. :D

And after reading this thread I'm in the mood for poutine so guess what we're having with supper tonight? (home made poutine is the best!)
