I'm wondering whether there's a standard length for a synopsis. I'd heard that some agents want a single-spaced, one page synopsis for a novel, but looking at their websites many either just say 'short' or one to two pages. If two pages can it be single-spaced? At some point, I'd heard that was a no-no.

If you do a search for synopsis, you'll find tons of threads about this.

Generally, you can single space a one-page synopsis, but anything else should be double-spaced. Synopsis length depends on the agent/editor's requirements. Common lengths are one page, five pages, and ten pages. Some people also do two or three pages. Like I said, it depends on to whom you're submitting.

Ditto. A lot of agent websites will tell you what length they want, or at least give you an indication. It's not uncommon for writers to have a one-pager, a three-pager and a five-pager to cover all the bases.

Also, not every agent wants a synopsis. I queried eight and not a single one asked me for it. (A small sampling, I know, but it saved me having to polish the one I had)
