Are there any other pantomime writers floating about here? My friend George and I have written two of them. They were initially written for the village drama group but we've managed to get them published since then. :)

I once tried to explain our village Panto to some American visitors.

They got as far as the Principal boy being played by a woman and the Dame being played by a man. After that, they dismissed it as something for perverts!

Bad dialogue still grates even in panto. The genre is by no means an excuse for poor writing.

A store of bad puns is far more important.

Never mind the genre, there is nothing - NOTHING - worse to listen to than bad comedy. If only because it's next to impossible to mock rather than just crying at.

That's very true. While Pantos should contain the odd bad pun, they've got to be entertaining otherwise everyone will leave!
