We see all the time about credit card theft. A while back both Visa and Mastercard were afflicted by a massive credit card breach.

Granted, my idea will not help with situations like these, but in the more general sense (where a waiter, for instance, writes down a card number and tries to use it), what if a credit card only worked in the hands of its assigned owner?

Like, if it had some kind of scanning technology that detected fingerprints.

I dunno.

Just an idea.

That would eliminate the possibility of purchasing things online using your credit or debit card. Also, you'd have to walk the waiter (or gas station attendant or barman, etc) back to the station to pay, and if your spouse or anyone ever needed to use your card, they'd be screwed.

Hey, my spouse can get his own freakin' card. ;)

Online buying I haven't figured out for...

Maybe an online account could be handled separately?
