Yesterday, using a memory stick, I backed up all the files on my laptop. Today I added a new file, but have not yet backed it up. If I plug in the same memory stick and download this new file on to it, will I be "covering up" or erasing any part of what's now on the memory stick? Or would the newly copied file automatically be added to what is now the end of what's on there?
Obviously, I never saved this way before.

Hope this makes sense. Any advice would be appreciated.

It's okay, relax. :) I's no different from saving onto your hard drive. The files are just as individual and separate. A new file--one with a different name--is a new file and will not overwrite anything else.

Matera,

Thanks. I know it's a stupid question, but when you don't know, you don't know!

Random thoughts:

Consider investing in several USB memory sticks (they're getting cheaper!) and cycling them so you use a different one every day.

If there's a danger of overwriting data that you might want to keep several versions of, consider creating daily or weekly subdirectories on your memory stick.
