Some of mine...(all taken on Okinawa)

My husband, taking pics...

There are two explanations for this photograph of some hotel balconies:

The photographer in me saw a really cool abstract shot, neat perspective, etc.

The third grader in me thought it looked like a stack of butt cracks.

Holy crap, that's vivid! looks fake. Nice capture.

It was one that was totally by chance, Colonel. Ol' Boy and I were sitting on the deck... we'd taken about thirty or forty shots and were just getting ready to put the camera up and go in for the day. Suddenly all the little birds disappeared from the feeders and we looked around - suspecting the sharp-shinned was back - and there this one was, oggling us from the corner of the storage shed. With the crepe myrtle tree behind it, it looks staged!

Ah yes, I see it now. We don't get many closeups of the peregrines in my city. They're faces aren't so chibi-cute as this guy's is. Still a great shot though.

a lot here - my kids bring out the photographer in me the most, though I have a lot of other shots that I have never moved to digital. I used to do a lot of outdoor photography on regular film. Several of the ones of my kids at a very young age were done on film but saved to CD when I developed them, so a few of these are film. One of these days I'm going to have to move the rest.

Thought I'd post a few from a couple of recent "Trash the Dress" shoots my husband and I did. I'm not affiliated with the actual TTD site, trashthedress.com (http://trashthedress.com), I just got the idea from them. The idea being, when you abandon the need to keep the dress clean and perfect, you can get some WICKED cool pictures of a bride. Of course, it's often taken to an extreme, and the dress really does get trashed. The first session was at Katsuren Castle, the ruins of a 15th century castle here on Okinawa. We didn't actually trash it at that shoot...but the second shoot (next post), at the beach...well...it was toast.

Just thought I'd share. :)

... turned off "display images" on my CP User options, weeks ago.
Am beginning to regret that decision :-(
So if you don't mind, please quit praising the photos in this thread,
so I won't feel like I'm missing out so much on seeing them.

Thnx, Ken.

Here are some instructions for posting pictures (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showpost.php?p=589161&postcount=1)... you'll need a PhotoBucket account (or some other photo-hosting site).

Nice shotz. I'd rather have a link because my connection is slow. To me, posting multiple pics in one post is rude. I end up avoiding threads like this because it ties everything up for ten minutes. I can load a linked image or page in the background while I read, and get to it when I feel like it.

Although we take lots of pictures with our digital camera, I bought an Argus C3 camera, circa 1950s at an estate sale yesterday. We're headed off to Hilton Head, SC for a vacation, so I'm trying out my new camera for beach and vacation photos (supplementing those taken by our digital camera).

This used to be the premiere 35mm camera, so we'll see how it does.

Thanks! It is hard to take bad photos in paradise.

I'm standing on volcano looking back on the island of Santorini in Greece.

I'd go back in a heartbeat....

A few photographs taken through my mobile phone. My digital camera is dead, and the mobile seems to take better quality pictures than the original camera.

Snow in Surrey, February 09

I loved seeing the landscape in white, so crisp.

Oooo... fun thread! Everybody's pictures are gorgeous. I just got a Nikon D90 last week. It's my first SLR so I'm still learning and reading a ton. It's so fun though! Here are a few newbie shots from last weekend in chicago:

I love your photographs of people RLB. :)

I have been researching into the world of SLR's for a couple of months now, as I am hoping to buy one and it seems from this thread that the Nikon D90 may rule. Or are there any other better ones out there in term of a can do approach?

More lovely photos!

Those tulips are lovely and so is that kissing couple!

And the winter scene of white, snowy branches over water is great. And that was taken on a mobile phone? Wow!

Okay, Wayne, let's go to Greece asap! The season on Santorini will just be beginning. Perfect timing!

I have no camera advice. I have a simple Kodak camera with zoom capabilities. It's nothing jazzy or professional.

This is one of the photos I took at the protest tonight. It was hard because it was dark but I cropped it and added some gamma to it.

What was the protest for, bsolah?

bsolah
05-15-2009, 05:04 PM
It was for al-Nakba, the 61st anniversary of the Palestinians being driven from their land. So was also a protest for Palestinian rights, against the wars against them etc.

Was smaller than the ones at the start of the year but those big flags are always awesome to take photos of.
