View Full Version : Dreams about AWers

The other night I dreamed about all of my books and projects at once. It was the weirdest thing. (I'm working on a book about bullying, The Street-Smart Writer, a ghostwriting project about a very rich woman, and a book I can't even describe because it's really ghostwriting.)

Anyway. In one "scene" of my dream, Uncle Jim was bullying me. Like, poking and pushing me. (Meanie.) I've never met him, but he looked just like his picture! I was also jealous because someone on AW (I couldn't remember who it was when I woke up) was very, very rich. Could have been Mac.

You ever dream about AWers?

I never have. I dream about birds, bus rides, and apartments. Once I dreamed I won a date with Groucho Marx.

I've dreamt about Joanne once. I think we were at a book signing and I ran out of chalk. And Joanne and I started to argue about who is going to get the chalk. I don't remember the rest of the dream or the details. But that's kind of weird. ;)

Ray had absolutely nothing to do with my lack of comment.

EDIT: It was aimed more toward Os and all those blobs... ;) Here's the real explanation: I tend to dream about things that pique my curiosity, but haven't been given sufficient time during the day for thought. Leave room for wonder and I'm probably dreaming about you.

I've dreamed of people in on-line communities I hang out in, on a semi-regular basis. Most of them are forgotten by the time I brush my teeth in the morning, though. Nothing personal, guys...It's just I tend to do it quite frequently, so it's no longer a unique occurrance.

Every now and again, though...I'll dream about someone I know on-line, that has touched my life in a deeper manner. And the results of -those- dreams are a bit...odd?

Not so much the dream itself, but the occurances afterwards.

One time, I had a dream about a very close friend who lives in Russia. We were trapped in his apartment building, and needed to get out. Why, I'm not sure of. But we got to the doors, and they where chained and locked shut. I went into a panic. Not for my own safety, but fear for his.

I sat straight up in bed, in a cold sweat. I happened to glance at the clock (always do when I get woke up in the middle of the night, since sometimes it might not be worth it for me to try and go back to sleep). It was about 3 am.

This was the early morning of October 31st. Halloween.

When I was able to talk to my friend a couple days later, he told me something very odd happened to him on Halloween. He was out with friends at lunch break, and he had a sudden, unexplainable panic attack. No reason, but he was very frightened, and felt trapped.

I hadn't told him about my dream. In fact, I had all but forgotten it until he told me that.

There's about 9 hours difference in time for us. 3am for me = noon for him.

my AW dreams are always the same. i'm walking down a hot, dusty road. aspier is a crow, perched on a powerline, speaking french, but backwards.

a truck rumbles up behind me in a cloud of dust. i try to step out of its path, but it swerves - not enough to hit me, but just enough to scare me - and then speeds past, all of the mods sitting in the back chugging from the old moonshine jugs with the three x's on them, hootin' and hollerin', poking at me with pitchforks as they pass.

once they disappear over the horizon, the sky shatters like glass and rains down on me, cutting my skin.

i lie down in the tall grass and am awakened by a guy dressed like a snake oil salesman, wearing expensive shoes and a cheap suit. he hands me a business card...

I had a good one about going out for drinks with Jill, Kate and Joanne once. Joanne had a water, the rest of us worked on a bottle or 3 of Pinot. That was interesting and I can pin point it exactly. Jill mentioned once that she was drinking a glass of pinot. I never got the chance to tell her it was my favorite grape (plus we three would have a killer time if we ever did get together).

I've never had a dream about an AW person, but (hijacking just slightly) I do have genre dreams - nightmares and sexy dreams, of course, but also comedies, detective mysteries, dream noir... ever happen to anyone else? (I also dream in full colour - unless it's a dream noir - and have full use of my senses, including smell and taste, which I've since learned is unusual.)

Sarah, yeah. I dream in full detail. Sometimes they seem so real that I wake up with the left over feelings. I had a dream about a month ago that a really good friend argued with me, put up his hand, gave me a look of death, and walked away. When I woke up, I was really upset! I still remember the look in his eye, the way he smelled, the way I hurt from the anger I saw in him. It was awful. I like the good ones better.

And back on dreams, do you find yourself attributing personalities to people you've never met, like Aw'ers or celebrities? I heard Jenna's interview yesterday with Memphis Ed. A little more off topic but still dreams - I've dreamed I could solve math problems I could never even read and spoken languages that don't exist. I had a recurring dream for a couple of years about driving in an ice cold place up to a hairpin turn that overlooked a crater of jagged ice and rock. My kids were in the car but not my husband. I'd screech to the edge of the hairpin turn until my front wheels almost went over, then I'd make the turn, sweating through my clothes. I always woke up panting.

I always have recurring dreams about taking exams back at my high school. I usually woke up all sweaty and frightened.

I dream about my HS friends a lot, too, but not when we were "in school." It's kind of like I dream about "now," as adults, as if we've had ongoing friendships through these years...

Otherwise, I don't dream much about people I know or places I have been or anything that has to do with my life. I dream stories -- sometimes really bizarre, crazy stories and I am not even a character... funny I don't write fantasies or horror....

Ok - bona fide AW dream last night - and those on this board with whom I was chatting until a ridiculous hour for a solo mom of three, you know who you are!!!

I dreamed that Zach skipping out on Week 5 was front page news in the New York Times and the results were yet to be announed. It was morning, sunny, bright, I was in a cafeteria at Wendy's University (don't ask - there was a racing track I had to drive to get there?! And when I got there, my old college roomie - the one in my Moummar Qaddifi story - was there waiting for me as she was putting a tray in one of those vertical tray holders you find at college cafeterias). I sat on a big hilly lawn with a cousin I haven't seen in 20 years who was trying to counsel Howard Stern (who had short hair like Keanu Reeves in Bill and Ted) and he was ugly as ever. (I hate Howard Stern by the way though I do listen occassionally.)

When that episode was done, I raced home, woke up my kids for school, raced to my basement, turned on my computer and keyed right to AW to see what had happened.

Then the dream ended.

I actually had a dream about you the other night. I was looking at a house that was empty and was considering whether to renovate it or not (I get a lot of these dreams. I don't know I must want to renovate houses). It had an apartment in the upper floor and there was Ray, sitting in a huge library-type room with a laptop on his lap typing furiously.
