Just wondering if their are any agents who specialize in novel of this type? The novel is literary fiction.

There's a book (similar to Writer's Market) just for Canadian agents. I'm guessing a Canadian agent would be your best bet. No idea what it's called but I've seen it at Chapters.

You'd still have to research the agents you find in it but it might be a good starting point.

Check the sites for:

Anne McDermid
Denise Bukowski
Helen Heller
Bruce Westwood
TLA
Carolyn Swayze

That's a good start...

Anne McDermid is my cousin's agent.
I had an odd experience with the Heller agency --- not Helen but Sarah, her daughter I think.

Mine too. Who's your cousin?

I had an odd experience with the Heller agency

Me too. But that was a few years ago.

Cool! A.lison Pick.

My Heller experience was summer 2007 so I guess that's a few years ago too!

Willie's list is great. I'd definitely start with McDermid. She certainly sends fast rejections.

Great way to tick one off the list and move on.

Excellent -- I had drinks with Alison when I was in TO in November. At a McDermid reception, in fact.

There aren't enough Canadian agents. We need more, dammit!

I think, proportionately, there are enough.

Some would say more than enough.

The names I listed were the tip of the iceberg, the top five or six. There are many, many others.

And from KTC: Great way to tick one off the list and move on.

Thanks for starting my day with a couple of laughs.
