Hit man makes me think music entrepreneur.

The word hitperson would be the PC term, but since that would imply violence, the term should probably be conscience challenged person for hire.

Interesting. Both my ancient, turn of the millennium dictionaries have the term hit man, two words.

Dictionary.com has it two words but lists the one-word alternative.

By the way, there's a movie titled Hitman, if that's any help . . . which I don't guess it is.
