I was out by 10:15 - and that's late for the Ol' Homestead.

I was up until 2am or so. But that's my normal time when I don't have to get up the next day anyway.

Miraculously, the oldest stayed up in time to watch the ball drop. But she was probably hyped up on all the chocolate we were serving at our party. :) I made it to 1 a.m. but hubby stayed up later than that. The one to knock off before midnight? The baby, of course, at 9:30.

Well, not everybody can make it! :D

We did, but not by much.

Watched the Ball drop in Times Square on the tube, then cruised Aw till the neighbors ran out of fire crackers.

Read for awhile, then fell out. An uneventful evening, overall.

My neighbors did fireworks, too. Got one of the dogs all worked up. I'm just glad nobody woke up the baby. I would NOT have been happy.

Listened to my golden oldies station play pre-Beatles R&R until midnight; had a glass of sparkling cider with my wife and then went to bed.

I always stay up. I've heard it's bad luck to be asleep on New Year's when the clock strikes 12.

The husband and I were up for a little bit after midnight, getting some quality time together that we don't really get.

Barely. Just ran out of steam, fell asleep listening to music.

Meet the new year, same as the old year?

I stayed up till my 17yo came home from a party. Mom genes trump tired genes every time. :) 1:15 am. Oy.

Up till after midnight, watched fireworks and it was cold! Had my UGG's on so my feet were warm. Overall, an early night for me.

I stayed up writing and watching That's Entertainment, parts 1 and 2, on TCM. Husband was out before me - I fell asleep at about 11:45.

I managed to hang on till midnight. By sheer force of will. By 12:10 I was in bed. lol I'm getting old. And I was alone. I just didn't really see the point of it.

Mr. Maryn has been taking those use-'em-or-lose-'em vacation days, so our bedtime has gradually inched later since mid-December. We stayed up until about two, although I had a brief drowsy stretch in the late elevens. It didn't last long; I still knew what was going on in the movie we were watching.

Trouble is, my eyes snapped open at 6:15 like any other day. Ugh. Next week, when Mr. Maryn goes back to work, I'll be glad I don't have to adjust, but today, I'm dragging.

Maryn, a total drag

Ha. I think about 5 or 5:30 for me? No one else I was with is alive right now. But we were in Times Square. So that is to be expected.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! :D

We were up until at least 3AM, but that seems to be the norm for us.

Always stay up. All the kids. Had Steak, Lobster and Bananas Foster. Had fire works at the door at 12. Made resolutions. Looked back at old ones. It was great.

I wrote until 5:30 this morning and managed to clean out the freezer. Found leftover chicken/vegetable soup in there from last winter, kind of dessicated it was - the things that disappear to the back of the freezer. On a good note, I found a rib-eye steak in one of those shrink-wraps still good, so that's on the menu today. Boring? You bet but that's not always a bad thing. Spent time on here, of course, and a good time was had by all. It was a quiet uneventful New Year's, the way I like it these days.

How cold were you? That wind was brutal last night! All we had to do was go from car to restauran and back to car again. That was enough cold for me!

I was in bed by 10:10 and asleep by 10:20. I haven't stayed up for the countdown since 1990 or so, which is the last time I "celebrated"; some friends and I were watching a movie and somebody looked at the clock about fifteen minutes after midnight, we said "happy new year" to each other, and went back to the movie.

I was working. Got off work at about 12:30 am this morning. Was back at work at 10 am this morning...

Because my work hours are usually 5 to close, and we close at 12 or one in the morning, I'm almost always awake. It takes a half hour to drive home, and an hour or two (usually spent on AW) to wind down, so I'm rarely in bed before 2 am. :)

At a couple of minutes after twelve, my boss looked at the clock and said, "Darn! We missed it! Happy New Year, Ruth!"

Beautiful all the same. :)

I was out at a bar, but they kicked us out at 20 past midnight. Not sure on the time we got home, as was my partner was having an intense conversation with he's brother. The drunk here was jumping around like a mad pixie as usual lol. Me and partner had a couple of Cypriot brandy shots when we got home. It wasn't in aid of the New Year, was because we just felt like it, plus it was sooo delicious.

Happy New Year to you too Susie. :Hug2:

I stayed up for it because Henrietta is here from Sweden and I had to take her out for the American bar experience on New Years. We started at the casino but the damn machines were NOT cooperating! We left and went and joined some of my friends from the lab at a small pub. Henrietta had Chivas Regal, I had diet pepsi :/

Some dude tried to talk her into trying out an Alabama Slammer. She has that whole Scandinavian snobby drinker thing going for her though so she passed heh

As soon as the clock struck twelve we were out the door.

As soon as my head hit the pillow I was asleep. I really hate not being able to keep up with the younger version of myself. I felt old.

I had a LOT of layers, and this awesome Russian-style hat that covered my ears. We waited on the corner for awhile for someone to take us into Times Square, and standing around there we got a little cold. But once in the throngs of people, it was just fine. And since we had someone take us right to the middle of Times Square, we were only outside for about two hours before the ball dropped. Thank goodness--I can't even imagine the people who were standing around since 3 pm.
