Writers spend much time sitting in a cave, nibbling on crumbly foods like Pringles Pizza Chips (http://www.drsoda.com/prinpizchip.html) and drinking excessive amounts of tooth-staining gunk like Dr Thunder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Thunder).

What health and beauty tips do you have for writers?

Health tip:

You can buy a set or two of dumbells and take workout breaks while you work. You can get a full upper body workout with just dumbells and if you want to add some lower body exercise, you can do squats and lunges using the dumbells also.

Drink lots of water.

Take breaks every 20 minutes.

Get plenty of sleep.

Well, I have a laptop-hygiene tip:
Remember to take time to wipe your keyboard clean of the grease your fingers leave when you're eating...well, greasy stuff.
Seriously, it gets gross and people start calling the equivalent of social services to come and take it away.
This applies to desktop computers' keyboards as well.

Yoga. Seriously. Even if only a few basic stretches and positions. Not only does stretching out feel really good after you've been cramped over a keyboard for several hours, it helps clear and focus your mind.

I work all morning on the usual household chores like washing clothes, mending fences, chainsawing and such. Then I have the afternoon and evening writing with a small break to cook the evening meal. So I don't need much extra exercise.

Remember to take a shower at least twice a month whether you need it or not.

don't use crazy straws. They're difficult to clean, albeit very fun to drink with :-)

Drink water instead of soda, eat something healthy like sandwiches. Sleep, don't write if you are too tired, don't force it. :D Take a walk, brains need fresh air.

Sitting and typing for too long at a time is bad for a lot of things--your back, your circulation, your posture, etc. Get up and do some stretches occasionally. At least once an hour, I'd say. :)

And don't use a book for a coaster. I've done it. Doesn't work out well for the book. :/

Have a regular exercise program that takes you away from the computer and out of the house. Writing is not one's most valuable asset. Physical health is. It's so hard to type that great story once rigor mortis sets in...

Make sure you sharpen your guyliner pencil regularly to keep it clean.

Excellent and helpful, everyone.

How often should one wash one's bunny slippers? I don't think mine have been cleaned since I got them.

Ah, who cares? Eventually the layers of dirt build up and protect you from the germs anyway.

What kind of moisturizer do you use when you're going to be eating cheetohs and licking cheetoh dust flavored by the moisturizer on your hands?

I woud think something jalapeno flavored.

Sweats are the ultimate all purpose house clothes. Of course, you should use them for working out a few times a week. This will motivate you to shower more at least.

Spend some time in the Now We're Cookin! forum and learn to make real food for yourself. Save money and feel better.

Other than that, get a SO to motivate you to keep your appearance up.

What's the best way to clean coffee spills out of your laptop?

Goat's blood doesn't seem to work... chicken, maybe?

Change clothes so laptop does not burn hole into said clothes.

Shave- men and women!

File decrepit names so they don't interfere with typing.

Change contact lens or clean your glasses.

Remove crumbs from boobs before answering the door.

Shave- men and women!

Hey! I told you to quit peeking in my windows!

Seriously. Shaving is something I need to stop neglecting. I grow a full beard before I even realize it. "Why the hell does my face itch?" I ask myself. And when I look in the mirror, I look like the wolf man. :tongue

Chocolate, but wipe the stains off your fingers before resuming to touch your keyboard, otherwise it gets all sticky.
