Favorite Line = First Line (Writing Prompt)

My old English teacher taught us this one...

Find your favorite line in a book. Make this the first line in a new story.

For example, if your favorite line is : Jack sliced his enemy's throat with a rusty spoon.

Then that will be the first line of the new story.

Now, I just have to choose between 2 favorite lines. Ok, I'll flip a coin. Ok, heads won.
My line is:
