Someone mentioned John Travolta and Robert Downey Jr. in another thread.

Who are some of the greatest comebacks/career makeovers?

joan crawford and dennis hopper staged impressive comebacks.

and although it's unlikely to result in a sustained comeback, mickey rourke's role in the wrestler could rival travolta's reemergence in pulp fiction.

I'm very interested in the Wrestler -- saw a preview and thought Rourke was impressive.

There's some good buzz about Jean-Claude Van Damme's new movie, in which he plays himself as the washed-up action star that he is.

Ingrid Bergman. She was forced into exile for marrying Rossellini. Then she had her triumphant Hollywood return in Anastasia.

She's so beloved now, it's hard to imagine how the American public turned on her back then.

Frank Sinatra, after Winchell and Gerald LK Smith helped push his career into maybe seven years of decline and he rebounded in 1954 after his Oscar win for From Here to Eternity.
