All right, you brilliant, brilliant fantasy friends, I have a fun (I hope) question thread for ya.
My MC has to find a hidden object. I know, I know, sounds so cliched, find a hidden object to beat the Evil Lord Dude. I promise, there's a super-duper fun twist. Don't bail on me yet!
So, we have a side character who is always humming/singing a tune. Four stanzas, needs to have clues about this object, known as the White Throne. "scholar" or something about studying can be thrown in there, there's also going to be a guard to get by, a reference to water, perhaps a dark, dank cave.
I don't want to give away the farm or have my readers figure this out before my MC does, that would suck, and I am HORRIBLE at the whole make-a-riddle thing.
Do any of you possess this talent? I'm not locked into much of anything yet, my MC has a ways to go yet, so there's a lot of leeway here....

Kade the Scholar left his tower
Left his books and
Left his kin
Seeking for a lady's bower.
Will the lady welcome him?

Oh the long road
Oh the long, dark road

Kade the Scholar followed only
The road climbing
To the caves
Seeking always, always lonely.
See the lady as she waves?

Oh the long road
Oh the long, dark road

Kade the Scholar had a warning
From a man all
Dressed in mail.
Why're you looking in the morning
For the silent lady pale?

Oh the long road
Oh the long, dark road

Kade the Scholar in his dank hall
Silent sits
With silent she.
Summoned by the lady's false call
There she sits, and there sits he.

Oh the long road
Oh the long, dark road

If you came up with that in one sitting, I will fall at your feet in awe.
BRILLIANT! Just, wow. I'll do a little tweaking to fit, but....holy cow. Holy cow. I will erect a monument in your name.
Holy cow.

The pale lady sits in the graveyard
Next to the one she loves,
Oh how she loves her dearest love
and yet he is as cold as stone
for he is dead and she is cold
For cold and stone and dead is one

How does that grab you...

The frog and the toad went out to lunch
And had a boiled egg between them
When the frog and the toad ate the boiled egg
There wasn't a crumb left between them.

There's a piddle in the riddle
And the middle of the piddle
Is not as funny as it seems
But the piddle and the riddle
Could not be parted
So the piddle of the party
Was parted.
Oh poor little piddle
What a piddle of a riddle
So the party and the riddle was halted
What a riddle and party,
What a party that was parted
So the party and the riddle and piddle in the middle
Was all lost on the same day.

What a silly little ryhme of no consequence to anyone at all - not even me.

Piggly diddly piggy riddle.

'What have I got in my pocket?'

:)
Yeah, it's Bilbo to Gollum, THE HOBBIT ... but it was such a great cheat on the whole "mysterious riddle" thing too. I like the Mysterious Riddle idea myself -- but it's always cool to think about how you might put things into a funhouse mirror via some unexpected twist!

muahahahaha ...

*eLfy sneaks in, takes a look around. Seems like another perfectly normal Danni thread ... one that is not yet eLf-afied. eLfy rubs her hands together and giggles maniacally, signalling to her ninja-minions ...*

Curious scholar
On your lofty seat of words
Take mind of White Throne

Travel is a quest
Over babbling brook and stream
and into the dark

White be marshmallows
The precious hidden treasure
Gaurded by ninjas ...

'Ware the eLfninja
That stalks in thy trembling steps
Offer her sugar.

It's haiku! :D

I mentioned a White Throne, water, alluded to dark, included a ninja guard, AND there's FOUR "stanzas", so I believe I've fulfilled all the necessary requirements.

... ... what? You didn't think your thread would be safe from eLfy chaos, did you, Danni?

(PS you should make 'White Throne' the high eLven seat of awesomeness. Marshmallows are white. Your throne is white. ... see where this is going? ;)

I am at a loss for words. It seems that my little rhyming thread has become the seat of great silliness.
Care to try again, just for kicks?
I need a prophetic song about a Chosen One defeating Darkness. Cliche, right? Right.
Except I need it in Pig Latin.
Any takers???:D

The scholars cave
Both dank and dark
Set throne to save
For with neither spark

For neither water
Nor scholar's daughter
May find thy hidden whispers white
Out of seater, out of sight

But one alone may embark
Still searcher must be brave
Yet guard not faulter throne to mark
For the searcher's seat to save

The white, the white,
Soft! Failing light,
The throne that stands
In pools so bright.
The throne that stands, in far-off lands,
Beneath time's ever-shifting sands.

The white, the white,
By candlelight,
The scholar yearns
In dead of night.
The scholar yearns, to find the way,
To cavern's mouth ere light of day.

The white, the white,
In grip so tight,
The guardian's axe
shines, Everbright.
The guardian's axe shines, Everbright,
The blade that drove the Gods to flight.

The white, the white,
Throne's golden light,
The water still
In pools so bright.
The water still, in pools so bright,
With scholar's blood, and Gods' swift flight.

And guardian's song of evernight, all in the fading throne's white light.

Heh, well, that's what happens when you wage war with an eLf. Silliness genearlly ensues.

Wonderful, isn't it? ;)

I need it in Pig Latin.

Pig Latin?! ... uh ... I think I failed that one in school. Can I just have a sweet reward for writing the first one in haiku?

I do hope you're kidding about the Pig Latin. It's the bestest thing in the world....and why is it that when I talk to elves I end up making up words like "bestest"?
