What day should I take the turkey out of the freezer?

What day should a 9 lb. bird come out of the freezer?

Put it in the bottom of the refrigerator today and let it thaw that way. It should be ready by the time you're ready to cook it.

By the way, if you cook it wrapped in aluminum foil the meat will not be as dry (which seems to be most people's complaint about turkey). If you like, you can uncovered the foil and brown the skin as the last stage.

Alleycat,

I took your advice about the foil, and the turkey turned out fantastic! Thanks!
Funny, I just looked up this thread to ask if your turkey turned out alright (or "all right" for those grammar nitpickers on here).

I'm glad it turned out well for you. I know a lot of people don't like turkey, but I really enjoy it once or twice a year.
