View Full Version : i can haz 5k 2day?

Yeshanu

Okay, folks, here's the thing: Today marks day 18 of NaNo. Right now, your total should be sitting at 30,000. As you can see, right now, I'm about 5k behind. Some of you are ahead of me, some behind. So here's my challenge:

It's just after noon where I am. I can write until about five or five thirty my time, then I have to leave the house. During those five and a half hours, I also have to take time out to meet my son's taxi from school, and make supper, as well as giving myself various breaks.

In those five and a half hours, I'd also like to challenge myself to write five thousand words! I'll need your help. Specifically:

Word Warriors who will spar with me, a half hour at a time in the Word War thread. :box:

Companions (who may also be word warriors) to join me in this insanity. (You can set your own five-hour goal, though) :Hug2:

Cheerleaders to keep me motivated. :e2dance: :e2cheer:

Dungeon Mistresses and Whip Wielders to keep me even more motivated. :e2poke:

Who's in with me? Rep points, virtual cookies, and encouragement for your own efforts all provided.

Okay so now you have a dungeoneer, a whip wielder, and a cheerleader. I'm on for word warrior. See you over at the word war thread!

I will be your shame inducing devil voice.

If you don't make 5K, everyone will say you are a sissy. Oh no.

Yeshanu

Okay, I have to do this. I definitely don't want the sissy thing attached to my name.

I'll head over to the Word War thread and challenge you! I have 30 minutes left on my lunch break, and I'm thinking I can get at least 500 words done. Race ya!

Yeshanu
11-18-2008, 10:19 PM
I'm sitting at 27,500 right now, or nearly half of what I hoped to accomplish today! (Maybe the bar was set too low?)

I need advil in order to keep on working ("female" troubles, plus a bit of a headache.) I'll be back in a few, though.

I'm off out for a little bit, but when I come back I expect you to have 50k DONE, Missy, or I'm a Dutchman.

Wait... this is about nano?

Yeshanu
11-18-2008, 10:30 PM
Go, Kevin!

And sp, 50K done by the time you get back? You'll be back on, say, Thursday? Of NEXT week?

Of course, if you meant 5K, I could probably manage that. Gotta go! Word war time.

Yeshanu
11-19-2008, 12:09 AM
I am now officially at 30,176 words, which means I've written 5,019 words in just over three hours. Time to hand out rep points and take a short break, then I'll be back for more.

I'll see where I get to today -- I'm aiming for a modest 3k, but if today's as good as yesterday, it should be a fair bit more.

But I'll be happy with 3k. First war up for 12:15, if anyone's here.

I haven't been able to write today or yesterday -- my boss gave me a two-week project one week before my vacation begins... so I've been swamped trying to get it done ahead of schedule.

No can do at the moment, Yeshanu. The tasty breaded chicken in my oven is calling to me.

You understand, I'm sure.

Once I'm full of over-processed battery hen, I'll be back though. :D

Speaking of pics...

This is perhaps kind of skirting the PG posting rules, and if anyone's truly offended I'll take it out, but some imp whispered these words in my ear last night:

"Your Worship, might I borrow your cloak for a minute?" I asked. She pulled off her cloak, and Drew stared. "Oooh! Shiny shirt! Can I have the shiny shirt, Mayor Snugglekins?"

"Can I have the make up kit you've got in your bag?" the mayor asked for the umpteenth time.

"Oooh! Shiny!" And Drew pulled out the make up kit from her backpack and handed it to the mayor. The mayor took off the shirt, and Jonnie's face went from being green tinged to being flaming scarlet.

"Um, if you're going to do that, then perhaps you should wear my shirt," he offerred gallantly. He didn't wait for Mayor Snugglekins to answer, though, but pulled off his tunic and threw it at her. We all stared. At Jonnie.

I can tell you honestly, that outside of touched up photographs of celebrities on steroids, I've never seen such abs. Or biceps. Or...

Let's just say, that if he wasn't celibate, Jonnie was probably going to be busy tonight, and not with zombies. Too bad I was married. Mayor Snugglekins, however, was not married, and stared in open admiration at Jonnie. As we noticed her staring at Jonnie, her face became as red as Jonnie's. Except that she didn't have a shirt of any kind on yet (Jonnie's hung limply from her hand, totally unnoticed for the moment), and the red colour spread down her body, until even her peaches were scarlet.

:D

You wouldn't be mad at me if you read my NaNo "book". It's an awful stew of adverbs, cliches, and wandering plot lines that could almost be funny if it weren't so sad.

As it is now, you'd want to put out your eyes with a hot poker after reading what I've got.

Plus, I wrote chocolate Leto erotica for you. You can't hate me! It's not allowed!

P.S. Yeshanu's, on the other hand, IS funny. I want to read it. :D

I was talking a friend recently about girlcrushes I have, and they could understand Angelina, because let's face it, everyone wants to do her.

The person concerned responded to my Catelust by saying, "Cate Blanchett? Meh. You can keep her."

Some people, huh? She could turn me in a New York minute. Why do you think I had a photo of her all ready and raring to go?! :D

Reached my goal of 3k for today, and then some. I'll be back again to play tomorrow, with a goal appropriate to the situation.

Thanks, all!

Yeshanu
11-20-2008, 09:53 PM
My goal for today is to simply not end up in the ditch again. Seriously.

I'll be doing some writing today, after I go through and re-read what I've written so that I know what needs to be edited when NaNo's over (I made a deal with my internal editor--I'll let it look at my manuscript if it is willing to also get back in the car with me and help me drive today.)

Or, to put it another way, yep. I ended up in the ditch yesterday. Never made it to work, had to wait two hours in the freezing cold for the police officer to show up, and when she did, she'd explained I was her sixth accident call in three hours, and she hadn't had a chance to have supper yet...

Light snow on top of ice--I might as well have been driving on a skating rink for all the traction I had. Anyhow, I'm okay, except for the stress headaches, car's a little dented, ex-husband is mildly pissed (his car!!), and I'm ready to get back to work.

[/whine]

So a goal. Hmm. I think I can do another 3k today, to end at 38k. I'll be ready to war in about another half hour, if anyone wants to join me. (And if I'm not heading out with my ex to the auto body place--the insurance folks have to phone first.)

11-20-2008, 10:02 PM
This is why why Yeshanu and I date, we always take a limo. I can play with her toes, she can play with my Sam and Galadriel action figures, and the driver pays for his own insurance.

Cate Blanchett
Cate Blanchett was the “original Tim-Tam girl” and she did a number of commercials for the Australian chocolate biscuits.

See? She really is choklit! :D

katiemac
11-28-2008, 11:38 PM
Whenever I see "choklit," I read "choke lit."

I really hope that's not an omen for all of our NaNo novels.

scarletpeaches
11-28-2008, 11:40 PM
Actually that's a good way of describing what I write.

You know in the world of sport, if someone has an advantage and can't finish off, like in tennis, it's said they choke? That's what I do. I whizz through a first draft until I'm a ball hair away from the finish line, and...choke.

I take just as long to write the final 10k as I do to write the first 50, 60, 70k or whatever.

Yeshanu
11-28-2008, 11:46 PM
I'm finding that now. I got to 50k yesterday, and I have about 10K to go. So I'm really hoping folks will stick around this forum next week for the real finish!

And ack! Tried to start revising yesterday, hoping it will be ready about a week before Christmas so I can package it up pretty and give it to my dad, and there are stickies on every page.

scarletpeaches
11-28-2008, 11:48 PM
And I hope you'll kick my arse, Yeshanu, for as many times as it takes to kick me over that real finish line too!

(I'll have another 50k on top of NaNo, so that's definitely gonna leave me with a Yeshfootprint on my gluteus maximus).
