In mid-August, I emailed an agent and received an out of office reply that said they were back at work from the beginning of September. Is it too soon to contact them again? They say on their site they will reply within two months.

Thanks, Chumplet. I did think maybe I should leave it a bit longer but with Chrimbo coming up and people being off work, I could end up leaving it until the new year.

I'll email them now.

Depends what they say on their site. If 3-6 months is their typical response time, two months is too early.

If they just got back from leave, they're probably swamped, so I'd give them a little extra time. If you haven't heard anything after three months, then nudge. The end of the year is when a lot of agents clear out their inboxes to get ready for Jan.
