I just got a personalized rejection in the mail today from The Claremont Review! They said my story "Watching You" was a "chilling tale". I'm ecstatic!
That's great feedback. Now try to work out why they didn't want to take on "a chilling tale". Does it not fit their needs or does it need a tweek or two to make it perfect. Can you contact them to find out? I did with Trend and the editor gave me lots of hints.
I believe the editor hinted at that it needs some work on it because I didn't show the character's motivation on taking the chance with the stalker, so some work will be needed. Thanks!
Personalized rejections are always nice (in that morbid way)...my first rejection at Ray Gun Revival long ago led me to make necessary changes in future submissions, and it's been a rather fruitful time since then.
