Okay, folks! We're really late off the mark this year--we've only got nine and a half days left before NaNo, and we don't have a dares thread.

So:

Put a "bad cat" somewhere in your NaNo novel. I dare ya! :)

Dares! Of course! :D

Bad cat, check. I can do that.

Adding (also posted on the NaNo board):

Dare: include the sentence "You lose the game" in your novel.

2BP: if it makes sense in context.

3BP: if you explain the rules of the game, in context

4BP: if it starts, ends, or titles a chapter

A cookie: if it starts or ends the novel.

A batch of fresh-baked most-addictive-cookies-in-the-world: if it's the title of the novel. (But you have to share.)

Hah!

1. Bad cat
2. You lose the game.

I'll add a poisonous plant to the list.

BP if you kill a character with it.

double BP if the plant is also carniverous.

Might be the easiest dare ever (well, for this novel)

Dare: include one line written in LOLcat-speak
BP: if it's in dialogue
2BP: if the dialogue makes sense within the context
3BP: if it starts or ends the chapter

ETA: no fair for Soccer Mom to participate. She probably can write the whole novel in kitteh-speak!

Forgetfulness. Have a character forget to bring something important.

BP if missing the item changes the course of the story.

(prompted by me walking out the door without my purse this morning :D )

These are fun!

My novel is all about dares. The MC will take any dare she's given (but only once).

I'm going to try to incorporate as many dares as make sense for the world, I think. (btw, I was AW dare champ in 2005, but that was more for-fun noveling and this one, while fun, is more serious)

I suspect a game of Truth or Dare is in order for the novel. So "you lose the game" seems very likely. I'm currently trying to build the end around using it as a last line :D

:D That fits!

I think I'm going to tweak my first scene to use it as the opening line.

In the meantime:
Bad kitteh says: banker hooman forgetd Taz. You loos game. Bad plant eats you nao. Kthxbai.

Ok, fine. I'll rewrite it from scratch (ha) Nov. 1, if you're gonna be mean about it.

Dare: Use the phrase "I just accidentally the whole thing!" (or any variation of the sentence where the action verb is missing)

Bonus Points: If it makes sense to everyone but your main character.

Double BP: If you manage to have a chapter long conversation spawning from that one phrase.

We also can't forget the traditional AW dare: Use as many names of AW members as possible.

I think " You lose the game" would make a great title to my cat and mouse mystery, thanks Annie.

Dare to have a character die on the toilet.

BP if you end the novel that way.

Dare to: Take a stab at Publish America
BP - Actually refer to it as Publish America, rather than hiding it behind a made-up name.
2BP - Send to Publish America for publication

One that should easily fit into pretty much any genre:
let someone faint at the sight of the tiniest amount of blood.

This thread just might save my rump for NaNo. I'll come here if/when I get stuck and use some of these as prompts!

Meant to post this earlier...

Dare: name a character after a dance
BP: the character's description or personality matches, too
2BP: the character's introduced in the middle of the dance
