It's dead.

There's only one? *whew* The foot-long centipedes that we had in the dorms in college were bad enough.

They grew ‘em way bigger back in the Carboniferous - like dragonflies with wing-spans longer that a 747. Yuck!

Betcha the roaches back then were even bigger than Gregor Sampsa.

Stands to reason. Borneo is home of the worlds largest flower (http://thefactbox.blogspot.com/2007/03/largest-flower-on-earth.html) too.

Ya know, it seems a rather dubious 'honor' to being the first of a type of insect or animal collected . . .

. . . because they're always collected dead.

Don't freak out cos it's an insect!
It looks like something from a science fiction movie.

Beautiful, though I don't think it's the worlds largest insect just because its been found. There are many longer insects out in the wild, and I am very happy to say they have not been found yet, and stuck in a box for observatory purposes.

The perfect camouflage. Could be easily mistaken for a twig.

You can rub 'em together to make a fire, too.
