I'm just wondering what types of trees are found in Massachusetts. The beginning of my novel takes place there. Any help would be much appreciated. :)

I live 30 min south of Boston. We have tons and tons of oak and pine trees. There used to be more swamp maples (maybe 30 years ago) but they are fairly rare now, generally actually found in swampy pond areas. There are also birch trees, but they're rare too.

Massachusetts is also a very heavily wooded state. Google Earth gives a good idea.

This is an interesting tree resource:
http://www.na.fs.fed.us/Spfo/pubs/silvics_manual/table_of_contents.htm
It shows exactly where each species of tree lives, unfortunately I don't think it has the info in reverse of which trees grow in each state. But that should be available somewhere...
