Is anyone here working as a curator of archives, or works with one?

I have a short story to write about one and only the vaguest of ideas as to what they do when actually organising archives. I know something about repairing and restoring and the PR work.

A brief description of a typical day would be a wonderful help.

The only one I know spends most of his day writing grants to get the money to keep the place going. I also know he has a backlog of something like a thousand documents (mostly letters) that are yet to be cataloged, work that is mostly done by unpaid interns and graduate students.

maybe something

I have a distant cousin who, in 2004, was Dean of Libraries at a university in TX. Don't know how closely related that is, but if you think it might be helpful I could email her.

Thank you...

alas, I have to have something about the actual storing and ordering of the documents in the archive.

There's a panic on as the original writer failed to deliver and the museum needs the story and other stuff asap! Typical huh?
