ETA: the seventies means Jimmy Page in his black dragon suit, too. Coooooooooolll.....

There's definitely 2 different 70s decades going on here; the disco Travolta and the metal/hard rock and towards the end, punk (OK, make that 3)

From where I'm at: Queen, Deep Purple, Led Zep. I never would have looked at a guy had he come close to dressing like those guys in the JC Penny cagalog.

So I'm for reruns of In Concert and/or Don Kirshner's Rock Concert - do they even televise those shows anymore? VH1? MTV?

According to theme? They had show themes? I vaguely remember The Midnight Special - I was more an In Concert fan. And I found Kirschner to be a little more pop. Story: Our TV broke around when In Concert was broadcasting Deep Purple (I was maybe 17 and was throwing fits - big DP fan) and my father, bless him, borrowed this clanky B&W TV which got zilch reception so that Ian Gillan and Ritchie Blackmore looked like they had had fuzzy spots all over them.

Someone saved my life tonight. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia-s7rY175k)

I think of my brother bringing his truck into the city and finding me in the streets and bringing me home...every time I hear this song. He saved my life that night. There's even a line in the song that cuts like a knife for me. "coming with a truck to take me home" --life imitates art.

Goosebumps. Great song.

I NEVER forget him. I saw him at a secret unannounced unplugged concert in Toronto in the 80s. Small tiny tiny club...him on the stage sittin' on a stool...wearing ultra cool leather jacket and a singin'. It was not really much more than a bar.

I AM GREEN WITH ENVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was never banned in my town... but I grew up in Southern California... not much was banned on the airwaves.. in fact, one of the best radio stations had their tower in Tijuana.

Ah, the 1970's. I hadn't yet hit puberty, and I had a Dorothy Hamill haircut.

On the bright side, I had a Mr. Bill Mirror and a Welcome Back Kotter 45 case (still have them, consider them heirlooms).

I remember jogging shorts and sitting in my Mom's car for an hour to get gas. Good times! Back then I was a big Neil Diamond fan, and had my very own light saber (blue). I had a sweet pair of rollerskates for weekend excursions to Rollerama, where they always played "Beth" by Kiss.

And one of the most interesting comedy groups, Firesign Theater.

Here's Nick Danger, a satire of Old TIme Radio detective shows.

I was tortured by that song. In the dorms the guy next door had one album and only one album and he played it over and over and over and over and over and over again.

The girl in the room next to mine cranked Sympathy For The Devil every day at 3:00, unfortunately interfering with our daily naptime. She would sing along "Ooooh Ohhh! Oooh, Oooh!"

Oddly, it didn't diminish my enjoyment of the song or the kid next door. She had a good sense of humor.

On the other hand, that year, freshman year, my roomate and I were nearly lynched because we repeatedly blasted the Chipmonk's Christmas song durng the week preceeding final exams. I still can't understand why. It's a classic.

I missed this.

I don't remember being married to you.

Really. I think I'd remember that.

Well, SF, I showed my husband the pic of you and he said, "I didn't look like that when I was younger."

Okay. So I thought he did. He said he had very wild, curly hair and a different shaped face. And glasses.

How would I know? I didn't know him when he was a youngin.
