Quite apart from how nauseating that idea is to me personally, I see another issue.

Suppose one of these donors saves up all her payments and decides to treat the family to a nice meal.
She could end up eating her own milk!
That squicks me out.

Furthermore, I predict those dishes will be ordered by slightly-wierd people.

It squicks me out too, Ben. not just her and her own milk, but it just doesn't seem right for anyone other than her baby to have that milk.
I have never had it. What's it comparable to?
tastes like chicken.

Trish, doesn't really know what it tastes like.

I haven't heard that about cow's milk, and probably everyone reading this (certainly a majority) has at some time drunk cow's milk. And wouldn't human milk be better for a human to drink anyway?

I haven't had milk in years, but just the other day I ate some cheese.

Okay, okay, voice of reason here.

Think about your childhood's quick breakfast. Think unsweetened cereal. Think about pouring on regular milk, the good stuff, not the low- or no-fat stuff you drink now. Think about adding sugar with a generous hand.

Now think about the cereal being gone. You know how the milk in the bottom of the bowl tastes, really sweet and somewhat rich? That's exactly what breast milk tastes like. Nothing gross about it. It's really quite delicious.

Maryn, amazed at the moms and dads in this thread who never tasted it

There is just something nasty about human juice. I can't help it.

I imagine there is a great deal of discussion regarding this very thing somewhere. I know it's good for babies, but I still don't want to drink it.

(and yes, I breastfed, but Mr. Stew and I never tasted it.)

Keeping it in one's own family seems way more Okay than ordering it at a restaurant.

Sorry - I should add a TMI alert...

Spouse is one thing - strangers another... I'm w/ Tsuki and a few others actually...eww to the OP.

Kinda reminds me of a comedian I saw once on why women breastfeed & not men. The babies would starve cause men would be shooting each other across the room
