Chuck Palahniuk-deeply twisted and funny
Roald Dahl's adult stuff-twisted in a more old-timey subdued british way, also funny
Neil Gaiman-dark and funny, but possibly not darkly humorous
Tom Robbins-funny and twisted, not so so dark
Johnen Vasquez' Johnny The Homicidal Maniac graphic novels-very very dark, also hilarious
A Modest Proposal, by Jonathan Swift?

Thanks for the suggestions! I actually just bought Chuck Palahniuk's Choke so I'm excited to read that. Someone else I know also recommended Christopher Moore (A dirty job, Practical Demonkeeping)...

At any rate, thanks for adding to my reading list.

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller and M*A*S*H by Richard Hooker.

And I second A Clockwork Orange.

Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni.

It's a show and a book I believe, I've only watched it and it's pretty twisted. :D

The characters appear young, cute, and innocent, but that is so not the case!

How about stuff by John Irving? It's the lighter side of dark: The World According to Garp, A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Cider House Rules.

Chuck Palahniuk was the VERY first recommendation in this thread. That's the guy who wrote Fight Club...

Yeah, but Diary was recommended, not Fight Club.

Edit: Nope, i'm wrong. A feeling i'm used to.

Recent stuff?
Tim Dorsey. He has a Florida based series. The protagonist (Serge Storm) is a serial killer. Dexter, with more humor. (no, really)
Christopher Moore -- (not so dark, but hysterically funny and twisted) Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove, Blood Sucking Fiends, You Suck (A love story).
