Shoot me now.

I just this minute saw my very first Christmas commercial!

Not yet! Please, not yet!

Looks like it caught Santa off guard, too!

The one instance in which I support the death penalty.

Any commercial mention of the word 'Christmas' prior to Thanksgiving Day.

Well, to be fair -- who me? -- it was advertising the Rockettes Christmas Special here in town in early November.

But still... It had Santa Claus, Christmas music, and everything that constitutes a Christmas commercial.

And really, isn't early November just a tad early to be going to a Christmas special anyway?

I was wondering how long it would be before someone started a Christmas thread.

Gah! Our Thanksgiving is in October and they still don't have the audacity to do any Christmas stuff until at least Halloween or so.

Oh I like that! Let's think up some songs he can sing.

"Ferrets roasting on an open fire--"

"We wish you a ferret Christmas, we wish you a ferret Christmas"

"Ferret Christmas, darling, we're apart, that's true--"

Said the night wind to the little ferret,
"Do you see what I see?
Way up in the sky, little ferret,
Do you see what I see?"

Oh come, all ye ferrets...

I'd imagine they're taping it to show on TV later in the month. Unless it's a live show.

But yeah -- waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early.

Oh, that I don't know. But I would think the Rockette's, if they're going to tape a show for airing later, would do it from Radio City Music in New York, not the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee.

Um, not true. I was in Zeller's today. They've started to sell the Christmas stuff. They just got the Halloween stuff out last month, and now we've got Christmas trees and decorations in the store.

My wife's best friend keeps her fake Christmas tree in a closet...fully decorated...all year long. Geez, how big is their closet? I'd have to fold mine in thirds, and then try to sqeeze it behind the winter coats and the vacuum cleaner.

I can honestly say that I haven't had a Christmas tree--of any form--in my house for almost 13 years. Not even in the closet.
That makes me very sad. Despite the fact that I don't want Christmas to start before Thanksgiving, it is still my favorite holiday, it takes us an entire weekend to get ready for it with all my wife's Santa Clauses and every room requires a tree, even if it's only a little statue of a tree.

Be not sad for me, gentle Ferret. :) If I wanted one, I'd get one. I've just never gotten into Christmas, really. I suppose that'll change if I get married and have kids, but for now, I never decorate--for any holiday.

Unfortunately, Christmas (the big, modern, commercialized version) is bigger than the death of one icon...or even a (thinking of Easter) resurrection.

If Christmas didn't exist, some hotshot on Madison Avenue would have to invent it.

OK, I've racked my brain for a witty come back, but it's fried at the moment.

It's the boy! The boy! Maybe you should give him a fuzzy little ferret to play with. You could sing "Chestnuts roasting on an open ferret fire" or "All I Want for Christmas is my Two Ferret Teeth" or "I'm gettin' Ferret for Christmas".

Oh, ferret baum, oh ferret baum,
Hmm, funny, I always sang the wrong words. I thought it was "Oh, ferret bum, oh ferret bum."
For years, I though we were singing a Christmas song about Shadow's ass.
