TRICKS TO TRY.

A lot of writers have trouble flogging their own stuff, but can easily be a great sales person for other people's stuff. Why not trade services with a friend/acquaintance? If someone is too desperately shy to take their published work down to the local bookstore, trade with each other. Many of the visitors to the board have crit partners. Why not a promo partner?

I do a lot of promotional work with an author who doesn't have the time (or patience) to do it all. I make bookmarks, ads, press packages, carry books with me, editing, managing communications with fans/publishers, etc. It has been a great opportunity for me, and takes the pressure off the author. She pays me in free books, a nominal fee, and the occasional trip to an event. Effort on behalf of the author is necessary, as I've expressed in another thread, but he/she doesn't need to take the full brunt, as long as they're willing to give up the reins a little.

Kick some butt today!
