I never seem to get more than 6 hours of sleep per night.

I actually got about eight last night. First time in a while. Was a little groggry and irritable because of it.

For me it is two different answers, I need at least 8 (9 is better for me). However, I usually only get about 5 or 6. I'm tired.

There are really 2 answers to the question. I get less than 6. I need more than 8. :tongue

I'm curious why you ask the question.

I really thrive on 5. Any more, and I feel groggy, any less and I'm a crankfest. :)

You could let me sleep 12 hours or more and I'll never be "leapin' out of bed and hittin' the ground running." That's just no in my nature.

Since you're on a bike wouldn't you be rolling??

Last night I got three hours. That's because I wrote a chapter in my in-progress story. Normally I get about five, but I have to "catch up" about once a week or so (with a 6 to 8 hour sleep).

I function on less than four hours of sleep better than I do when I have over six. I'm just one of those weird people I guess. I'm also in a workaholic phaze at the moment, where after writing all day I go to sleep excited to wake up and write the next scene the following morning. Last night I wrote until almost six and woke up again at nine to hop back in.

Down side of my odd metabolism is that I'll get sick instead of sleepy--and spend two-three days sleeping it off on the couch. But, almost without fail, that happens after I've done with whatever project is driving me.

Four or five hours does me, any more than that and I feel like a zombie.

I'm curious why you ask the question.

Oh you are, eh? :)

Actually, I was just curious to find out if I'm the only one not getting enough sleep. But since we're writers, I figure maybe there are other writers staying up late at night trying to finish an article to meet a deadline. I stayed up until 12:30 a.m. writing my article, not finishing. So I had to get up somewhere around 6-6:30 a.m. to finish. Now I feel like a total zombie.

I need a lot more sleep than I usually get.

I stay up late just to write, not even make a deadline. I can't write with my family alive awake.

I suppose if I had a writing deadline, I'd be in the same boat. Sadly, I just write for myself at the moment, waiting with baited breath on that magic "call" from an agent.

My sleep woes are more hormonal. :D

It depends on when I'm sleeping.

I work night shift, so when I'm sleeping during the day, 6 to 7 hours is perfect. I feel good and have no problem staying awake all night.

But on my off days, I have to complete reverse my sleep pattern and I can't function on less than 8 or 9. Tonight I'll go to bed at 11 and sleep until 8 or so and take an hour nap in the afternoon when my son does. Without that nap, I can't make it through the day.

I guess that's what happens when you screw around with your sleep like I do.
