When I lived in Mallorca in the 70s I met some local fishermen my best friend knew. They did daily trips for the tourists and my friend invited me along. At midday we stopped at a cove, let the tourists go shopping at a nearby village and the fishermen prepared lunch. Along with freshly caught fish cooked on an open fire, they also had crusty loaves cut in thick slices, then they rubbed a cut tomato on it, drizzled olive oil on it and sprinkled on a bit of salt. They called it pamboli. Deeeelish!

I do this a lot. I'm a dip-a-holic. I love any food I can dip.

Love doing this!

I like drawing swirls in the oil with the vinegar, but the yin-yang thing would definitely help create a table.

Ever tried dipping your pizza in alfredo sauce? Decadent!

Pizza and alfredo sauce? Yum!

I like putting mozzarella cheese on garlic bread, baking it until the cheese melts, then dipping it in ranch dressing. It's terrible for you, but sooooo good.

When I was in Italy, we'd dip the pizza crusts in olive oil and vinegar after we'd eaten all the good stuff off. Sooooo good.

We get a french loaf every couple of days for bread dipping with our meals. We haven't always had this addiction. It comes and goes. When we have it, it's bad. I'm actually jonesin' right this minute.

-French Loaf
-Balsamic Vinegar
-Spiked Olive Oil - I always get the kind with the 1000 red hot chili peppers in it.

Caution: This is addicting.

Ooooh I love Carbs. Love'm. Bread? Sure! Gimme!

Mimi's Cafe (not sure how far out of Cali they go) has THE best banana-ish bread they put out with rolls before your meal. And butter.

I swear, butter in restaurants tastes better than any butter I've had at home. So creamy...

I love bread.

I'm a ranchaholic. I dip A LOT in ranch dressing. Love it. I even dip my burgers, already with ranch on them, in ranch. Fries? Ranch.

I love bread dipped in oil. I've got a cupboard full of different dipping oils.

Bring on the carbs!

you martyr and shine.
Bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar is my favorite indulgence. But it has to crusty sourdough bread.

Had this just the other night... not sure if it qualifies as 'dipping,' but... I slice French bread, then toast it. On each piece I put a slice of mozzarella, then a leaf of fresh basil from the "garden" (otherwise known as the planter box where our tortoise lives), and a slice of fresh tomato. Salt lightly, drizzle olive oil over the top - SO GOOD.

Oh, and of course it doesn't hurt that I have a bottle of what is literally the top olive oil in Italy (apparently they have judging each year?), which I got directly from the farm itself. The number of bottles made each year is so low, each one is numbered. There's still about a third of it left and I am going to cry when it is gone.
