I will complete a play this year! I will!
We've just returned from a big night out! My little seven year old, Maggie won third prize in a story writing competition. Tonight was the presentation night. Up she went to collect her prize - a certificate and a $5 voucher from the local newsagents. She's so stoked, as are we all. I had to confess to her that I didn't win a prize in a writing competition until I was 18, so she's doing pretty well! Her school teachers were there too. She had a great night.

Just gushing. Thanks.

Gushing you are entitled to do. Congrats to your daughter and to her justifiably proud family.

Sent it in to Stories for Children Magazine. They have a special category for "under 17" writers.

And tell her congratulations from America. See, she's world famous already. ;-)

A true accomplishment - many congrats to your daughter.
As an aside: thanks Mandy-Jane for reminding us here in the Northeast US that as your wonderful springtime approaches, winter for us is just around the corner, although it would be cool to find kangaroos in the backyard. We found a black bear once - but that's another post.
Back to the subject: You deserve to gush!

And so it starts.

Next it will be an illustrated book.

Then gushy emo poems the first time she falls in love.

Then NaNoWriMo.

Stories of Strength.

Then she'll chuck it all and go into accounting. :)

Just kidding. She'll decide she wants to be a writer, and you'll be stuck supporting her forever.

Congrats to Maggie, BTW. And to you, for raising her right.
