You are cordially invited to a civilized fete of decorum and dignity.

Nay, this is more than a refugee camp for Fangsters and Ne'er Do Wells. It is a foray into the open waters of AW's most shallow pond.

A special welcome to the sodden evacuees of Meeting House.

Please, perch delicately on the chair and nibble a crumpet.

Let me assure you that you will feel quite at home here.

It is like our former abode, but with more kitteh and less angst.

Stew21
09-03-2008, 11:21 PM
I'll have some tea, a kitteh (hold the angst), and what the hell is a crumpet anyway?

I feel so honored. I've never been invited to tea party before.

*sits delicately on end of chair*

Now please spike my tea with hard liquor and pass me an entire plate of those crumpet thingys.

Mr Flibble
09-03-2008, 11:24 PM
*glares suspiciously* are they real crumpets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crumpet)? And proper tea? PG tips perchance?

If so I'm in. I never pass up a good cuppa and a crumpet.

*Provides honey for all*

It's especially good in a hot toddy, don't ya know?

Hot toddy:

! oz Irish whiskey (I use Bushmills, others prefer Jameson--or you can use dark rum)
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp honey (use homegrown honey for your area--great for allergies!)
1 cup of tea

Combine all ingredients. Wait until honey melts. Add more whiskey to taste.

When you all get a good buzz on and are just slightly dizzy so you have to read with one eye closed, could you take a look at my query letter. No sensible approach has worked, maybe the drunk tea party query by committee approach will.

So this post is mostly for the benefit (or not) of those who have heard about the french honors society hullabaloo from last year.

The vice president we elected last May grabbed me in the hall. She's no longer VP, because she isn't taking French this year (this part is reasonable) and the person that our teacher has selected to be VP is Complaining Girl (this part is not so much).

It is mind boggling. My mind is actually boggled.

You know, at this point I feel like my hands are pretty tied, because it IS national FNHS policy that you have to be taking french to have an officer position, and frankly I'm tired of this teacher's crap and I don't want to deal with it anymore.

Here. Have part of my dead soul. I minced it up with garlic and capers. It's good on crumpets.

We may have kidney pie after a while.

Decorum indeed.

Ewwwwwwww! I'm a hack, not a cannibal!

I'm having buttered toast, thanks muchly.

As for decorum, well, hell. I say wallow for a bit. It sometimes helps. After awhile, it gets boring to be all angsty. In the meantime, yeah, you can always take it out on some hapless (hopeless? LOL) manuscript. :D

No longer hopeless--I've been working on these three. Eviscerated? Yes. Hopeless? not any more.

I'm going to go write for a while. Maybe that way the battery acid in the garage will stop looking so thirst-quenching.

Well, have fun, then. I'm going to play on here and pet the kitteh. I have to clean later, and I'm procrastinating. :D

Couldja hurry it up, Celina? I've scheduled time on the Fainting Couch of Teh Wangst & Woe in fifteen minutes...fourteen minutes.

You'll just have to wait. I'm have a bug-killer cocktail at the moment. Just shovel my remains out in--oh, I don't know--shall we say, half an hour or so?

Lovely.

Where's the pics of the kitteh, by the way? And if Oliver needs some catnip I just bought a nive big bag at the natural foods store. :)

Catnip? LOL I'm not sure it would make much of a difference. I think Ollie was malnourished when we got him. He was hardly moving his bowels, and I had to feed him by hand. He could hardly move or stand. Now, he's exploring the joint, purring his little head off and stuff. Still very laid back, though. :D

As for pics, well, as soon as I can find the charger (it's actually a digital camcorder), I should be able to take some. He's so CUTE! :D

And now you have ten minutes left on the Fainting Couch...

Ha! I'm on my own fainting couch at home! So, HA! I'll be dramatic as long as I like.

Wow. But it doesn't matter how dramatic I get, I have just realized that there are a lot of people who get significantly more upset over rejections than I do.

Here, Ben--take the couch. Otherwise someone might hit us over the head with it.

*wanders out to check small press submission guidelines because she only has one more requested full out in agentland*

Sorry to hear about the rejection. I think we need a pan of brownies.

Okay okay...I'm off the couch.

Oooh! Warm fainting couch! Yummy!

Yeah, I know it's been less than a week since I mailed the thing, but I still haven't gotten a confirmation on the short I sent out. Certified mail and everything. At least it's not a rejection, but patience is not one of my better points (I let my keen wit and stunning good looks do most of the work for me).

Okay. Who's retching back there?!

Suggestions for increasing my chipper-quotient that doesn't involve food? Or alcohol, for that matter, since my little guys are home from school?

Well, I'll offer up a wonderful merlot to the cause. And a pinot grigio. And some crackers and cheese. And whine of my own - the day from hell today. Started off with trying to cut my son's hair (we were at a charity thingie yesterday and 3 different people called him a "she", so I figured he was overdue) He moved at the last minute and I cut myself instead. The palm of my hand - right at the base of my idex finger. Do you know how %^%@$&%@ bad that hurts???

Iz not my day. Wuz all downhill frum there... :(

Can I haz the same as Celina, arsenic and ginger?

mscelina
09-09-2008, 02:33 AM
Nah. The ginger makes the arsenic gum up--very unpleasant. You use ginger with digitalis, Robert--helps to mask the aftertaste.

*no, I am NOT a serial killer--I just read a lot*

Shweta

Don't have any digitalis.

I can get you the ginger, though.

That first tea was scary; the second tea looks just about right. :)

I have written over 9k so far today--a good day as far as word counts go. Seems like heart-rending rejections make me work harder any more. ;)

New Asphodel book, though--not quite as good a thing...

Oooh, sorry about the sucky "R" Celina. I"m sorta stuck in limbo land myself. I need to send more paper queries out and it looks like the "l" doesn't want to work on my keyboard. I got no writing done today. Zero. I did have six animals trimmed by the farrier, judge trials, cub scouts, and 4H, but no writing.

Maybe tomorrow.

Maybe tonight.

Naw. Brain dead.

Maybe tomorrow.

I can haz a Cape Cod?

Seriously though, I think you need tea.

:D This ALWAYS cheers me up. I LOVE the Discovery commercial. Stopped a knock-down drag-out fight at my house Wednesday night. Instead of knocking him down and dragging him out, I cried over the sappy commercial.

"I love the whole world..."

Hey, detailed personal rejections beat "I'm sorry for the form letter, but we've received so many queries lately that we don't have time to respond to each and every letter." Was this on your whole body of work, or only your latest? :Hug2: Don't worry. Your work rocks. You'll find that agent.
