I had a short story published in a small press erotica journal, but it has since gone out of business. When sending out queries,

1) Should I even mention the journal?
b. If so, how should I word it?

I would say just mention the credit without mentioning that the journal was now defunct (there's no need to explain to my way of thinking).

Agreed. I've had both print and on-line publications go belly-up. At first I thought about including a note about them having gone out of business but decided to just list them w/o any comment.
