Phelps earned his unprecedented eighth Olympic gold medal of the 2008 Olympics as he swam the butterfly leg of the Americans' world-record win in the 4x100m medley relay to close out the swimming competition at the Water Cube.

He already made history two medals ago (with his 12 career Olympic golds). But this really is inspiring, and he's so down to earth, too. Not an ounce of arrogance. He's just remarkable. This is the kid who overcame ADHD and a DUI conviction. This is the kid who was afraid to go under water. This is the kid who "failed" at the 2000 Olympics, then said, "I could do better." We should all be inspired to say, "I could do better."

Awesome! I love the way he stays humble about it all.

He's a good role model for kids diagnosed with ADD. Proof that they can find a sport and spend their energy there instead of being spoonfed Ritalin.
