So, as some of you might know, I've ventured into this genre set out on writing a autobiographical novel (I think that's it called...kind of like The Bell Jar...unless that was fictional, but I don't think it was). I'm looking for some good examples to help with my problem of telling vs showing. Any suggestions?

Memoir, showing versus telling

Hi Lisa,

There are lots of examples of books that read almost like a novel, including some big successful ones. Try Jeanette Walls' Glass Castle or Frank McCourt's Angela's Ashes. One of the lushest most beautifully written memoirs of all times (well, that I read, anyway) is West into the Night by Beryl Markham.

Good luck with your writing.
