For one thing, it's entirely too early in the year to start school. August 14th? what is that all about?

And I just sent my youngest to kindergarten.

Very strange. It's a bit quiet in here.

I know it's crazy right? So early in the year? When I lived in NY, we didn't start school 'til like sept 15 or somthing. Here, in TN, they started I think a week ago. It's nuts.

Congrats anyway. It's only a short, short time until your youngest is complaining about his teachers in between texting his or her girlfriend or boyfriend.

You are a horrible person.

Yeah, they build in all these snow days, which is ironic, since it hasn't snowed in the four years I've been here.

Lucky you, the conference and dinner and NO KIDS thing! I sent my little princess to kindergarten this week, too, but I've still got one baby boy to go. sigh.

Make sure you fill us all in on the con.

It does feel strange. It was the Wednesday after Labor Day that school always started here, for decades on end. Very sensible. No more though.

I know. I always needed a sweater to walk to school that first day. I keep wanting to bundle them up, but it's August.

Well Perks, this is the first year I have no kids going off to school.

No more dragging kids out of bed at 6 in the morning, worrying about them missing the bus, etc., etc.

I'm free!

wow! that is early, mine don't start back until the 25th. One in middle school and one in elementry this year. two different schools, two different bus shcedules. I liked their little elementry school. Only 99 kids in the whole school- Thats K through fifth grade.

I don't know about my son, but I'm scared to go play with the big kids.

Mine start next Wednesday. The younger two start pre-K on the 25th, though they'll go in different sessions.

The kids are excited, and I'm excited for 'em. I loved the first day of school as a kid. :D

I had something for this...
Mine are going back after Labor Day as usual. I think the teacher's union would lynch someone if they went back any sooner.

My son, who just turned 10, is no longer the smallest person in the house. That distinction now belongs to Mrs. Wit. They do grow much too quickly. :)
