For one thing, it's entirely too early in the year to start school. August 14th? what is that all about?

And I just sent my youngest to kindergarten.

Very strange. It's a bit quiet in here.

Wow. Big day. I can't believe so soon in the year! And the youngest bird leaves the nest. Bitter sweet...

Whatcha gonna do with your day?!

I'm going to the Killer Nashville Writers Conference (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98445) and I have to drive out of here right after they get off the bus, so what else? I'm going to get a pedicure.

Oh, and pack and get the house set up to run without me for the next three days.

I know it's crazy right? So early in the year? When I lived in NY, we didn't start school 'til like sept 15 or somthing. Here, in TN, they started I think a week ago. It's nuts.

Congrats anyway. It's only a short, short time until your youngest is complaining about his teachers in between texting his or her girlfriend or boyfriend.

Yeah, they build in all these snow days, which is ironic, since it hasn't snowed in the four years I've been here.

Lucky you, the conference and dinner and NO KIDS thing! I sent my little princess to kindergarten this week, too, but I've still got one baby boy to go. sigh.

Make sure you fill us all in on the con.

It does feel strange. It was the Wednesday after Labor Day that school always started here, for decades on end. Very sensible. No more though.

I know. I always needed a sweater to walk to school that first day. I keep wanting to bundle them up, but it's August.

Well Perks, this is the first year I have no kids going off to school.

No more dragging kids out of bed at 6 in the morning, worrying about them missing the bus, etc., etc.

I'm free!

My baby starts school next year. Then they'll both be gone!

Gee, I might actually have to .... work ..... or something?

wow! that is early, mine don't start back until the 25th. One in middle school and one in elementry this year. two different schools, two different bus shcedules. I liked their little elementry school. Only 99 kids in the whole school- Thats K through fifth grade.

I don't know about my son, but I'm scared to go play with the big kids.

The 14th? When do they get out?

Mine also don't back until the 25th.

My goodness, there's still a good two or three weeks of summer yet! And after the 9 months of winter we just had, why would you deny the kids (and parents) that?

Mine start next Wednesday. The younger two start pre-K on the 25th, though they'll go in different sessions.

The kids are excited, and I'm excited for 'em. I loved the first day of school as a kid. :D

I'm going to get a pedicure.
Can I come, too? :)

Hugs, Jamie. I'm not looking forward to the day I have to send Finn off. I can't believe he's 2 already.

Sunrise,

swiftly go the years ....

Mine are going back after Labor Day as usual. I think the teacher's union would lynch someone if they went back any sooner.

My son, who just turned 10, is no longer the smallest person in the house. That distinction now belongs to Mrs. Wit. They do grow much too quickly. :)

I've got mine for another three weeks *tears out hair*

On the plus side we spent the day the Tower of London. I got to see seige engines in action, saw a mace almost identical to the one my heroine uses ( and got to heft the weight too) watched a foot tournament ( handy, there's one in the next scene I'm writing. Yes, I took notes) and scribbled down copies of the rather intelligent graffitti in the Beaucahmp tower and the Salt tower. They had a better class of prisoner there :)

example: Since fortune has chose my hope should go to the wind to complain, I wish time destroyed, my planet being ever sad and desperate.

Wow. That's much better than:

Here I sit all broken hearted,
tried to sh.... nevermind.

Mr Flibble

Some of it was pretty bleak though

"The more affliction we endure for Christ in this world, the more glory we shall obtain with Christ in the next".

The Earl of Arundel. Something tells me his time there was not pain free.

Welcome to North Carolina. (&^$%#%$)

My mom told me MI passed a law that kids won't go back to school til after Labor Day. As it should be.

And starting on Thursday - WTF? Is there something wrong with Monday? Like "normal"? Superstitious or just Stupid.

We ask - you decide. I vote -....- well, I'm trying to cut down on cussing, so you guess.
