I was in the Marine Corps when that was popular. We used to sing "The Marines' Hymn" to the tune of "Running Bear." Whoo--major flashback!

When I was born (11/24/1942) the no. 1 hit was Irving Berlin's "White Christmas," sung by Bing Crosby.

Who?

Ol' 61
08-12-2008, 04:53 AM
I love stuff like this.

Me: "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?" by the Shirelles. Decent song. Proably explains my secret desire to be in a 1960s girl group.

Hubby: "The Ballad of the Green Berets." Interesting, as he is an AIR FORCE brat.

Number one on the day we got married, Sept. 3, 1994: "I'll Make Love To You," by Boyz to Men. Again--interesting.

My 11-year-old: "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down," by Puff Daddy. This kid is a whirling dervish of action, so it kind of fits.

My 9-year-old: "Livin' La Vida Loca," which is exactly how things were when he came along.

High School Graduation: "Hot Stuff," by Donna Summer. And I was. Or at least, I thought I was.

Mine's "Too Young" by Nat King Cole. Get out the old monoral vinyl and knock yourself out, huh? Because Hi-Fi and stereo did not yet exist. Man, makes me feel ancient.

Until I checked Mr. Maryn's, which is "Woody Wood-Pecker" by Kay Kyser. OMG, isn't that Big Band? Hahahaha. He's old!

Our kids' are Peter Cetera's "Glory of Love" and "Like a Virgin."
