The personal diaries of George Orwell are released today - and every day for almost the next four years - spooling out on their corresponding dates seventy years later. It's a rare look into the past from the future the man often strove to predict and caution us against in his writings.

AuthorScoop (http://authorscoop.com/) will be featuring daily snippets from the diary, commentary, and links to the full entries. Orwell fans will gain insight on the life of a literary giant, but people who simply appreciate perspective stand to gain even more. Who knows? They might end up Orwell fans!

The project (and AuthorScoop in tow) has earned a nod from Andrew Sullivan at The Atlantic.com.

Here's a look (http://authorscoop.com/2008/08/07/inside-orwell/) at William Haskins' preview to the event and today's first entry (http://authorscoop.com/2008/08/09/the-orwell-diaries-day-1/).

I'm getting to be one as well. I'd never read 1984 and then I did - and well, there you have it. Brilliant.
