Ok... maybe not, however.....

Peach season is starting!!!!!!! Woohoo! I just picked up some white peaches... I almost didn't want to eat them because their skin is so beautiful... and yet, I ate them anyway. YUM!

Time to raid the orchards and bring out your peach recipes!

Since you asked...

Peach-Blackberry Soup

1 cup Riesling
2 lbs peaches, peeled and sliced
1 cinnamon stick
3 tbs honey
2 tsp lemon juice
¼ tsp vanilla extract
1 cup blackberries

Combine first three ingredients in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer 10 minutes or until peaches are tender. Remove from heat and discard cinnamon stick. Food process peach mixture. Pour into a bowl. Stir in honey, juice, and vanilla. Chill. Top with a spoonful of blackberries before serving.

Great as appetizer, snack, dessert, whatever. Yum.

Oh now that sounds great.

My brother-in-law makes a peach/blueberry pie that is so good it has been known to reverse death (if administered within the first ninety minutes of rigor mortis setting in.) I'll have to see if he'll give up his recipe.

But peach season? They've been in my grocery store for weeks.
Those are not peaches. They look like peaches... but they are just cardboard imitations. You gotta go to the country and eat a lot of peaches...
Sweet... juicy, so much flavor..

Keep the recipes rollin'!

The peaches here are still marginal but the nectarines are AMAZING right now. Plus, corn on the cob, blueberries and strawberries are in season.

Blackberries and apricots are just starting to show up but they aren't as good as they will get. Lapin cherries will be coming in season in about 3 weeks and I can't wait.

Fact: Sara hates cooked fruit.

Fact: Sara's friend Kay-D makes a peach pie that can make her weep.

She wont give me the recipe, but it's quite literally, the only cooked fruit I've ever enjoyed. It's so good. And the crust? Oh good gods, I could go on for days about the crust. And the crumbly goodness she loads on top? I'm sure it's all butter, but it's heaven in a pie pan. I could eat the whole pie in one sitting. *drools* I need some of that pie!!!
