I'm trying to write a dream sequence, but I'm having trouble figuring it out. It's a somewhat prophetic dream that connects several differern people at the same time. The first time it's introduced, I want to somehow show that everyone sees just a vauge vision of what's happened. Each time the dream is had, it changes just a bit depending on what's happened to the characters.

Anyone know any tricks for writing a dream or at least getting them started?

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but I can tell you what I did with dreams in my last novel. The narrative is in past tense but all dreams are in present tense, which I hope sets them off as dreams.

I did my (short) dream sequence this way, too. And then I also formatted it differently, with line-spacing and italics.
